Catholic Social Services seeking donations for pantry, September silent auction
By WVUA 23 News Reporter Lyric Franklin
Catholic Social Services of West Alabama needs your help so it can continue its mission of helping those in need by distributing food and other necessities.
The organization’s food pantry is getting low, meaning more donations are needed. But food isn’t the only thing CSS is looking for, as they also stock clothes, shoes toys and anything else that could assist a family in need.
“We try to give them a lot when they come,” said CSS pantry organizer Princess Mary Dawson. “I try to keep it full so I can give more than the norm. It is very rewarding to be able to do that.”
In September, the group is hosting its Raising Hope silent auction as a fundraiser for the food pantry and other community services. Ahead of that event, they’re looking for:
- Corporate sponsors
- Gift baskets for the auction
- Volunteers
Every dollar spent at the auction will go toward Catholic Social Services’ mission.
Catholic Social Services of West Alabama serves around 6,000 people a year, according to its website, and it covers Marion, Winston, Lamar, Pickens, Tuscaloosa, Hale and Fayette counties.
Donations can be dropped off at Catholic Social Services of West Alabama, 608 James I. Harrison Jr. Parkway in Tuscaloosa.
You can learn more about the Raising Hope silent auction, happening Sept. 14 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Tuscaloosa River Market, right here.
