CAR DEALERSHIP DONATE BACKPACKS, SUPPLIES TO ELEMENTARY STUDENTS
It was a big day at Central Elementary School, thanks to the Julio Jones Kia and Mazda dealership.
They, along with several local radio stations, provided the entire fifth grade class at Central Elementary free backpacks full of goodies. The organizer for the giveaway, Jerry Carter, said he picked Central Elementary because it holds a special place in his heart.
“This is my school; I attended Central Elementary school,” Carter said. “I just decided that I was going to do anything within my power that I could to try to find people to come in and help sponsor the school and help these kids to achieve and to be the best they can be.”
Both Carter and Tim Newton, an advertising representative for Julio Jones Auto Group, said they hope to make the backpack giveaway an annual one.
“I think for our inaugural year to do this is, it was really good,” Newton said. “The kids were really responsive to it and this is a way for not only Julio Kia Mazda, but for the radio stations and Mr. Jerry Carter to show the young people that we care about them – we care about their future.”
