CAR CRASH KILLS ONE, INJURES TWO OTHERS

A single-vehicle crash in Lamar County has claimed the life of a Duncanville man.

It happened on Alabama 17, near the 237 mile marker, six miles north of Millport just before 11:30 a.m.

According to Senior Alabama Trooper Johnathan Appling, Kevin Keith Waid, 27, was killed when the 2000 Mercury Mountaineer he was driving left the roadway, struck an embankment and overturned.

Appling says Waid died on the scene and was not using a seat belt.

Catherine Nicole Walters, 32, a passenger, was airlifted to UAB Hospital in Birmingham.  Brooklyn Kay Waid, 2, was airlifted to Children’s Hospital in Birmingham.

Nothing further is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
