CANCER SOCIETY, PIGGLY WIGGLY TEAM UP FOR FUNDRAISER

Tuscaloosa’s River Market is the place for the Tuscaloosa chapter of the American Cancer Society’s largest fundraiser of the summer.

The 2016 Mister Pig Goes to Market event is a chance for the community to enjoy a night of fun, food and music thanks to the American Cancer Society and Piggly Wiggly. Rick Henson’s Soul Tide is performing and there will be a silent auction.

Jay Welborn with B&W Foods said the event is close to his heart.

“The purpose of the event was to kind of keep the name and legacy of my father alive, both in our industry and here locally,” he said. “He had a pretty big impact on our community here and really cared about giving to people. He was a 31-year cancer survivor. He passed away in 2010.”

The fundraiser begins Friday at 6 p.m. Tickets are $25, including food and drinks. Click here for tickets.
