CAHABA LILY FESTIVAL WENT VIRTUAL FOR THOSE WHO COULDN’T ATTEND THIS YEAR
The Cahaba Lily Festival in West Blocton was held on Saturday, May 16, and was viewed both in person and virtually.
The annual festival typically brings hundreds of people to see the famous lilies in bloom.
For people who either couldn’t get out or didn’t want to risk it amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the festival was streamed online so people at home could still enjoy it.
People that did come out to see the lilies were just excited to be out in the world.
Cindy Ponder, a spectator at the festival, said that being inside a lot made it more enjoyable to be out.
“Well I think due to the pandemic and we’re all inside a lot of the times and anytime a family or an individual can be outside and enjoy and appreciate nature in a different way now you can’t get close to it or awhile, you really do see the beauty of it,” Ponder said.
This was the 31st year that they held the festival.
