A Republican candidate for U.S. Senate made a stop in Northport Monday evening.
Bradley Byrne spoke to Tuscaloosa’s BAMAcarry group at The Frontporch restaurant in Northport.
Byrne announced his candidacy for the U.S. Senate seat currently occupied by Democrat Doug Jones in February 2019. He is a Christian conservative reformer who said he pledges to take the fight for Alabama’s values to the United States Senate.
“The Second Amendment says every citizen in the United States has the right to own guns,” Byrne said. “There are people in the United States who want to take that right away from United States citizens. So you have citizens groups that stand up in a very public way to try to make sure that they elect people that are gonna recognize and uphold their rights on their guns.”
BAMAcarry supports constitutional carry in Alabama, meaning gun owners would not require a permit to carry a concealed weapon. Currently, Alabama allows those without a permit to openly carry a gun, but requires a permit for concealed carry.
