These days, more things are being done in a virtual setting, even 5k runs. The Boys and Girls Club of West Alabama and the YMCA are open for essential workers and are hosting the “5k Your Way” event to give people a reason to get out and have fun. Participants have two weeks to run, walk, skate, or hop the 5k. There will be a special Facebook Frame for those who complete it to document their accomplishment.

“That’s the joy and the fun of this event is that because we can’t be together and all run at the same time we can still, wherever we are, we can support a great cause and we can get some exercise which we all need,” Boys and Girls Club of West Alabama CEO Kim Turner said. “We’re running 12-hour day programs for 6 to 14-year-olds whose parents are working. So, this will help us support that effort.”

You can do your 5k all at once or a little at a time over the two weeks. You can register online through the club’s Facebook page. Registration is $10 for children 18 and younger, $25 for adults, or $60 for a family up to five.
