BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA EXPECTED TO LIFT GAY LEADERSHIP BAN

The Boy Scouts of America’s policy-making board is expected to end its ban on gay adult leaders while allowing church-sponsored units to maintain the exclusion.

BSA’s current president  Robert Gates has called the ban “unsustainable,” Reuters reports, while activists have denounced the ban as an example of “institutional homophobia.”

The resolution will allow gay and bisexual leaders to work or volunteer with the group’s 2.5 million youth members.
