BOONE NEWSPAPERS INC. PURCHASES TWO GEORGIA PUBLICATIONS

ATLANTA (AP) – Affiliates of Boone Newspapers Inc. have purchased two Georgia publications from the Alabama-based Community Newspaper Holdings Inc.

Dirks, Van Essen & Murray, the New Mexico broker that handled the transactions, announced the acquisitions on Monday.

The statement says the Americus (Georgia) Times-Recorder and the Cordele (Georgia) Dispatch were bought by new Georgia entities wholly owned by Carpenter Newsmedia LLC, a Boone affiliate operated by Boone CEO Todd Carpenter.

Boone Newspapers has offices in Natchez, Mississippi; and Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The company and its affiliates own about 40 daily and weekly newspapers, primarily in the South.

CNHI, based in Montgomery, Alabama, owns more than 100 newspapers in 23 states.
