The second annual Black Warrior Fiddle Fest date is set and will be held at Government Plaza in Tuscaloosa on June 10-11.

The Black Warrior Fiddle Fest was held for the first time last year, but predating it was the McFarland Mall Bluegrass and Fiddle Championship, which was held for many years on the third weekend of February.

The new location at Government Plaza this year will provide a more family-friendly atmosphere, and also offers room for activities and food throughout the event.

Contestants in the fiddle competition come from all over the Southeast, and will compete for $7,500 in prizes.

Additionally, there will be a reunion performance by band Lickety Split to open the festivities on Friday at 6 p.m.

For more information on the festival contact Glenn Taylor at 205-366-0698.
