Craft beer businesses have been on the rise in Tuscaloosa.

Saturday, Black Warrior Brewing celebrated their third anniversary.  They have become a staple of downtown Tuscaloosa over the past few years.

Black Warrior Brewing began when the four owners noticed that there was no craft beer in downtown Tuscaloosa in the fall of 2012.

Eric Hull, one of the owners of Black Warrior Brewing, said “we were all craft beer lovers who home brewed a little bit, and when we were thinking about opening there was no craft brewery here in Tuscaloosa.”

They opened in the fall of 2013 with 14 home-brewed craft beers on tap.

“We’ve always got some regular (beer selection),” Hull said. “We’ve got some seasonal beers, and we also have a little small batch system, so every week we try and have something new and interesting for those people that like to come back time and time again and try something new.”

The variety of beers and the atmosphere have attracted some dedicated patrons.

“This is probably my favorite brewery in town,” said craft beer enthusiast Taylor Miller. “I like the space and they’ve got a lot of good stuff on tap.”

Their celebration featured beer, barbecue, live music and football.
