As Black History Month continues, The University of Alabama brought in co-founder of Black Voters Matter, Cliff Albright, to energize people, spread the love and build political power in the African American community.

During this event, Albright discussed the history of voting, voting rights, modern day voting issues and what the Black Voters Matter organization does to turn voters out. Albright said he hopes students take away an understanding of the history of this vote and what’s going on currently in black communities all across the country.

“We talk a lot about, with Black Voters Matter organization, getting voters to see that they have power and they can make change in our communities,” Albright said.

Albright also discussed roles students and young adults can play in winning elections and creating social change. Most of all, he encourages everyone to just get out and vote.
