Birmingham man facing charges in Mercedes parking lot breakins

One man is facing major charges after dozens of employee vehicles were broken into last week at the Mercedes-Benz U.S. International plant in Vance.

According to court documents, 24-year-old Terrance Wuanya Whatley is charged with a dozen counts of felony unlawful breaking and entering of a vehicle, which happened between midnight and 1 a.m. on May 12.

Cars in the employee lot left unlocked were opened and had items taken while others had their windows smashed. The owners of several vehicles with smashed windows said nothing had been taken.

Whatley was booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail on bond totaling $25,000.

More arrests may follow.
