Stu joined the WVUA 23 team in October 2019 as Executive Sports Producer. He’s spent the past 14 years in Alabama getting an education in passionate fanbases and BBQ — and continues to advance toward a dual-doctorate.
Stu is originally from California but instantly fell in love with Southern hospitality. Other Alabama TV stations he’s worked at include WAKA-TV in Montgomery (2007-2011), WSFA-TV in Montgomery (2012), and ABC 33/40 in Birmingham (2012-2018). Besides Alabama, he’s worked at stations in Nevada and Wyoming, which gives him the distinction of going from one end of the ‘state’ alphabet to the other (WY/AL).
In addition to his role with WVUA 23, Stu and his soul mate Emily oversee a nonprofit organization called Falco’s Friends. Its purpose is to match companion animals (Emotional Support Animals) with individuals who struggle with conditions such as PTSD, depression and anxiety. The animal rescue project was inspired by Stu and Emily’s own dog, Falco. He was their source of unwavering comfort and support, and motivated them to assist others in their pursuit of that same type of meaningful relationship.
