This Friday night, the West Blocton Tigers will travel down to Bibb County to take on the Choctaws in an anticipated rivalry game.

Despite losing a lot of starters last year, West Blocton is still coming into this game averaging 48 points.

“A lot of people doubted us because of our size. And we lost a lot of starters and were still a very young team,” said Coach Eric Hiott. “The chemistry of this team and the way they play together. You don’t get that every year in and year out and this year has been special for us.”

On the other side of the ball, Bibb County is coming off of a dominating region win as they beat Wilcox Central 55-8 at home.

“You know I’m gonna be honest with you,” said Coach Matt Geohagen. “We are creatures of havoc here. We do our best however we start that’s how we continue all the way through. It’s the next week, it’s the next game, so, we have built that mentality here with our players that were going to continue to do the things that we do.”

This game has big playoff implications as far as home field advantage as both teams enter the game 3-1 in region play. The two squads are currently tied in 2nd place in Region 3 of the 4A classification.

Last time these two teams met up was last year in West Blocton. The Choctaws came away with a 22-20 win. Bibb County leads the all-time series 45-18.
