BIBB COUNTY CORRECTIONAL FACILITY ON LOCKDOWN

The Bibb County Correctional Facility in Brent, Alabama is under lockdown after an incident that took place Thursday night.

Around 6:30 P.M. Thursday night 16 inmates in the facility’s B-Dormitory became disruptive and not following orders by prison guards. The inmates barricaded the entrance door preventing guards from the housing area.

A Corrections Emergency Response Team was sent to the facility along with other prison officials and a dialogue between the inmates and staff was formed. The inmates removed the items that was preventing entrance to the area and guards went inside. Once inside guards found the inmates disconnected the electricity, started a small fire and littered the housing area with debris.

No injuries were reported and the investigation into what happen is on-going at this time
