BENTLEY AWARDS FUNDS TO ASSIST ASSAULT VICTIMS AT ALABAMA, SHELTON STATE

Gov. Robert Bentley today awarded $205,500 to provide free assistance for victims of sexual assault and domestic violence at the University of Alabama and Shelton State Community College.

The award offers UA outreach program Project Hope a way to continue its education, counseling and advocacy services for students, faculty, staff and families at both colleges.

“College should be a time of growing and learning, and students should not have their lives disrupted by a senseless crime,” Bentley said. “I commend Project Hope for their education and support services.”

The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs is administering the grant from funds made available by the U.S. Department of Justice.
