BENCH IN HOMEWOOD DEDICATED TO ANIAH BLANCHARD

Aniah Blanchard

To commemorate what would have been Aniah Blanchard’s 20th birthday, friends and family gathered at Patriot Park in Homewood to dedicate a bench in her honor.

It did not take long for Blanchard’s former Homewood classmates and members of the community to raise enough money to dedicate the bench to her.

Blanchard’s friend Hannah Coker told the Homewood Star that they often went on walks at that park before they could drive.

Blanchard’s mother Angela Harris said that the bench will be a place for her loved ones to visit and reminisce on memories with Blanchard.

Blanchard, went missing on Oct. 23, 2019. Officials searched for her for over a month, until her body was found on Nov. 25 in Shorter.

Ibraheem Yazeed has been charged with her kidnapping and murder.
