BEAT AUBURN BEAT HUNGER DRIVE KICKS OFF
Familiar barrels are appearing all around town this week with the return of the University of Alabama’s annual Beat Auburn Beat Hunger food drive.
Big Al was on hand helping fire up students, faculty and staff today as they collected the first donations this year for the West Alabama Food Bank.
Over the past 25 years, Alabama and Auburn have collected more than 6 million pounds of food, and every dollar and canned good donated can make a difference for someone in need.
“We have our iconic red barrels all around campus and in the community,” said Beat Auburn Beat Hunger President Jacob Burnham. “You can donate cans there as well as donate money online.”
Last year, Alabama won the challenge by collecting more than 309,000 pounds of food. The campaign runs through Nov. 20.
