BASEBALL COUNTRY: A DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH
JENA, Ala. – In the small rural town of Jena, Alabama, there is a diamond in the rough.
Baseball Country is more than baseball. It’s a ministry spreading the gospel to people of all ages.
Youth players can spend their summer at baseball camps. High school and college programs can visit for the weekend for an overnight team camp. Even professional athletes visit the ministry during the off season to train.
The indoor facility can house up to 48 people. Inside the facility is a weight room and player’s lounge.
Sam Marsonek, Baseball Country’s Executive Director, was drafted in the first round of the 1996 MLB Draft to the Texas Rangers. He played for the New York Yankees until he suffered a career ending injury in 2004.
