BAMA VS. UGA PARKING ALERT
By Hannah Keeling
TUSCALOOSA – Rain has created a big problem for fans headed to Athens, GA this weekend to watch the Alabama Crimson Tide tangle with the Georgia Bulldogs.
Earlier this week, severe storms drenched the Athens Arena, creating parking shortages for this Saturday’s game. This years face-off is expected to draw one of the largest crowds in recent years, placing additional strain on campus parking.
UGA’s Intramural Field is the largest free public parking lot and usually holds around 2000 cars. Because of rain, the field is underwater and will be closed this weekend.
Fans traveling to Athens are encouraged to carpool and head to the game early. Also, UGA officials are urging fans without tickets to avoid campus and watch the game from their homes or somewhere off-campus.
Broadcast Coordinator for UGA, Melissa Jackson said, “We want you as visitors for the Crimson Tide fans to come and have a really great time in Athens. But, we also want you to be able to park as safely and securely and without as much trouble. So, come early.”
