Automotive Supplier Fair

A little rain couldn’t hold back those looking to get hired in West Alabama.

West Alabama Works partnered with the automotive parts supplier, Lear, to hold a hiring fair at Lake View Elementary in McCalla. Lear manufactures seats and electrical components for the Mercedes-Benz plant in Tuscaloosa County.

More than 100 job seekers came to the event, hoping to get hired. Whether job seekers landed an opportunity with Lear, West Alabama Works hopes the fair will increase awareness of the job support their organization can provide.

“If they know that they have the resources to help them, whether they want education or they need a better job, then they’ll have them at their disposal and can take care of their families and build a better life for themselves,” said Lauren Collier, the workforce development outreach and program manager at West Alabama Works.

The next event for West Alabama Works will target high school juniors and seniors. They will host WOW 2.0 April 7-8 to connect students with different colleges and industries.
