AUTHORITIES SEARCHING FOR SUSPECT AFTER STABBING, SUSPICIOUS FIRE

The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a man accused of stabbing another man hours before a fire destroyed the home at which the incident took place.

It happened around 1:30 a.m. Saturday in the 22000 block of Eastern Valley Road in McCalla.

When investigators arrived on the scene, they were told the 27-year-old victim was taken to the Greenpond Volunteer Fire Department, and from there was transported to UAB Hospital for treatment. His injury is considered not life-threatening.

Witnesses told authorities with the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit that the victim was stabbed by Michael Scott Lewis.

Around 10:30 a.m., the same address was destroyed in a fire. No one was injured in the blaze. The cause of the fire is unknown, but authorities said they have not yet ruled out arson.
