AUTHORITIES: BOAT WRECK THAT KILLED MAN MAY HAVE INVOLVED ALCOHOL

Boat Accident

Authorities say alcohol may have been a factor in a single-vehicle boat crash Monday evening that killed a Northport man and injured another.

Robert David Reagan, 63, was killed when the 2005 Triton Bass Boat he was driving hit a sea wall around 10 p.m. on Lake Tuscaloosa near Country Club Drive. Reagan, who was not wearing a life jacket or in possession of the boat’s emergency cut-off switch, was ejected from the boat and pronounced dead at the scene.

Passenger Scott Cooper Turner, 38, of Northport was transported to DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa for treatment.

Alabama State Troopers said that their preliminary investigation indicates alcohol may have been a contributing factor to the crash, and the Marine Patrol Division investigation is ongoing.
