AUGUST HOME SALES WERE UP IN TUSCALOOSA

Home sales in Tuscaloosa are up, according to the Tuscaloosa Multiple Listing Service.

A total of 229 units were sold during August, up 26 percent from August 2015. Since Jan. 1, 1,911 units have been sold, which an 18 percent increase from the same period last year.

According to the full report, found here, the median sales price in August was $146,000, which is 13 percent lower than the median sale price in August 2015.

Sales were 8.4 percent below July’s numbers, but that decrease is consistent with seasonal buying patterns, according to the report. Existing home sales totaled 80 percent of those sales, while 9 percent were new homes and 11 percent were condo buyers.
