August 26th Tropical Update
The National Hurricane Center has just upgraded a tropical disturbance we’ve been tracking to Tropical Depression #10. This system is just off of the Yucatan Peninsula and will push into the Gulf of Mexico’s warm waters. This storm is on track to be a category 1 hurricane, but it could intensify even more considering the warm waters and moderate shear in the gulf. What this means for West Alabama is remnant rain bands heading into the mid-week.
Hurricane Franklin is still in the Atlantic and does not pose a threat to land. The tropics look to be staying active with multiple disturbances popping up within the next 7 days.
