Deontay Wilder

Tuscaloosa native and unbeaten WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder cracked the Forbes’ World’s Highest-Paid Athletes list, clocking in at No. 56.

The Bronze Bomber has earned $30.5 million during his boxing career and almost all of it has come within the ring. Following Wilder’s 12-round draw with Tyson Fury last December and his one-round blowout of Dominic Breazeale in May, Wilder’s $500,000 in endorsement money makes him just one of 19 athletes among the top 100 to make that amount through endorsements. It also means that Wilder ranks much higher among base salary earners, placing 32nd when sorted that way.

Former Alabama linebacker and current New York Jet C.J. Mosley also landed on the list. The Theodore native came in at No. 82 on the list, making $26.9 million in both base salary and endorsements. Mosley played his first five NFL seasons with the Ravens before signing a large deal with the Jets this past offseason.
