ARREST MADE IN CENTRE TRIPLE MURDER

CENTRE, Ala. (AP) – Authorities in northeast Alabama say a man has been charged with capital murder in a triple homicide.

Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver says three people were killed at a house near Round Mountain early Monday morning.

Shaver says the slayings began as a domestic incident and the suspect, 38-year-old Donnie Lee Abernathy abducted a woman from the home and fled authorities with her. The woman has been hospitalized.

Authorities say Abernathy is also charged with kidnapping, criminal mischief and attempting to elude police.

Details on the nature of the dispute weren’t immediately available and it’s unclear if Abernathy has an attorney.
