Arcadia Elementary Employee Tests Positive for COVID
Tuscaloosa City Schools begins classes Aug. 20 with virtual-only learning, but system officials say one employee has tested positive for COVID-19.
Tuscaloosa City Schools said the Arcadia Elementary employee was in close contact with a small number of other employees at the school. Those employees were informed of their exposure, and they are all being quarantined, TCS officials said.
Superintendent Mike Daria said Arcadia Elementary is being professionally cleaned.
“We are following the procedures and guidelines provided by the (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) and the Alabama Department of Public Health,” Daria said. “When we have a positive we secure that information and put individuals on notice that they may be impacted.”
The system is following all guidelines to ensure students and employees are as safe as possible, Daria said.
