Apples for Education school supplies drive

By WVUA 23 News Student Reporter Avery Lake

As summer break comes to a close and the school year draws near, school supplies are hard to come by for some. Apples for Education is helping students in the Tuscaloosa area.

Apples for Education is set up at University Mall, collecting school supplies and money to help students be more prepared for the school year. The Alabama ONE foundation gave a Volkswagen Bug called the “SHARE Bug” to be used in the school supplies fundraising campaign. The goal is to fill the bug with school supplies.

Volunteer Greg Rogers said there are several ways to help. “We ask that people would help maybe adopt a student and so you can grab a red apple and go buy the school supplies that are listed on the red apple,” said Rogers, “So come by University Mall, we’re going to be here through the 24th, set up here right at center court, and we’d love for you to come by and be able to help our students with school supplies, much needed school supplies.”
