ALLEGED SEX TRAFFICKING RINGLEADERS INDICTED

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) – Three men accused of running a prostitution ring that included women living in the country illegally have been indicted.

Federal prosecutors said Tuesday that 37-year-old Bernabe Carbajal, 53-year-old Andres Hernandez Gomez and 34-year-old Saul Garrido Eligio are accused of running a Montgomery-based prostitution ring.

Prosecutors say Carbajal is accused of bringing a woman from Georgia to work in an apartment that was used as a brothel. Officials say Gomez supervised the brothel and Eligio picked up money from Gomez and provided condoms.

Authorities say Carbajal is being held in Georgia on sex trafficking charges. Gomez and Eligio are expected to go to trial in January.

Court records don’t list an attorney for Carbajal. Gomez’s attorneys said they’re reviewing evidence and a message left for Eligio’s attorney wasn’t immediately returned.
