ALABAMA’S KIRA LEWIS JR. NAMED TO ALL-SEC SECOND TEAM

Alabama sophomore Kira Lewis Jr. has been named to the preseason All-SEC second team, the conference announced Tuesday.

The sophomore led the team last season in points and assists per game, earning SEC All-Freshman honors.

During his freshman year, Lewis led the team in scoring (13.5 ppg), assists (2.9 apg), field goals made (157) and attempted (363) and free throw percentage (.783).

In addition to Lewis, Arkansas’s Isaiah Joe, Kentucky’s EJ Montgomery and Tyrese Maxey, Florida’s Andrew Nembhard, LSU’s Skylar Mays and Tennessee’s Lamonté Turner were named as second-team picks.

The conference office also announced the predicted order to finish as voted on by a select panel of both SEC and national media members. Kentucky was chosen to win the SEC, followed by Florida and LSU in second and third. Alabama was selected to finish sixth in the 14-team league.

The Crimson Tide’s season begins Nov. 5, with conference play starting Jan. 4. The 2020 SEC Tournament will be March 11-15 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn.
