ALABAMA’S KIRA LEWIS EARNS SPOT ON USA BASKETBALL’S U19 WORLD CUP TEAM

Alabama basketball point guard Kira Lewis was selected to the 2019 USA Basketball U19 World Cup Team, it was announced Thursday. The 12-man team will continue training in Colorado Springs, Colorado through June 23 before traveling to Greece for the World Cup. World Cup competition will stretch from June 29-July 7.

It was announced earlier this week that Lewis had made the cut for the 18-man roster.

A rising sophomore, Lewis had a breakout season for the Crimson Tide as a freshman, earning a spot on the SEC All-Freshman Team while averaging a team-high 13.5 points per game and 2.9 assists. Lewis also led Alabama in double-digit scoring games with 24.

Lewis is one of five players on the 12-man roster to have competed for a college last season. He joins Mississippi State’s Reggie Perry as the SEC’s representatives on the team.
