Alabama’s Honors Hall evacuated over potentially hazardous materials
UPDATE: The hazardous material that caused the evacuation of Honors Hall was a chemical commonly used in laboratories that can become dangerous if dried out and improperly moved. Emergency officials promptly responded and removed the chemical. Out of an abundance of caution, they will destroy the material in a nearby isolated area.
A University of Alabama building has been evacuated out of “an abundance of caution” this afternoon.
Honors Hall was cleared out, and UA sent out an email alert after potentially hazardous material was found in a storage room.
Emergency officials are on the scene and will handle and remove the substance.
No injuries are reported. UA is requesting that people please avoid the area until the situation is cleared.
