Alabama volleyball played its first of two spring matches Thursday night inside Foster Auditorium, defeating UAB in four sets by scores of 25-18, 25-20, 22-25 and 25-16.

“I thought there was a great carryover from the things we were working on in practice and we implemented the key elements well,” first-year head coach Lindsey Devine said in a press release. “We want to be aggressive in everything we do and take our opportunities at the service line to create some out-of-system balls.”

Leading the Crimson Tide was junior Ginger Perinar’s 11 kills, junior Hayley McSparin added eight kills with a .412 hitting percentage at the middle. Sophomore Kaylee Thomas led the back-row defense with 27 digs while sophomore Meghan Neelon was strong at the service line with four aces.

Alabama is back in action with its second spring match against Jacksonville State on Friday, April 12. The game is slated for 7 p.m.
