Alabama-Texas game to bring big business to Tuscaloosa
The Alabama vs Texas game stands to be one of the biggest home games scheduled this football season.
Local business owners and city leaders seemed to think the game will be a great economic boost for Tuscaloosa.
The Crimson Tide hasn’t seen the Texas Longhorns in Bryant Denny Stadium since 1902, and that changes this weekend. The highly anticipated game has reached the attention of SEC Nation, ESPN College Gameday and celebrities from across the country.
“We have been open 25 years and these are the games that we beg for and now we are finally getting them in Tuscaloosa, and now we get them at home and it is going to be great for the city,” said Innisfree Bar Owner Tripp Rogers.
Tuscaloosa City Council President Kip Tyner said the hype of this weekends game has city leaders expecting a big boost in business dollars with local hotels selling out.
“This might be the biggest weekend in the city of Tuscaloosa’s history. The last time I remember a hype like this, Alabama and LSU were No. 1 and 2, and President Trump was coming into town. It was a total madhouse. I believe we are going to break all those records,” said Tyner.
Tyner said regardless this weekend is a great time to be a business owner in Tuscaloosa.
