University of Alabama softball will look to win its series against the Georgia Bulldogs Monday night. The Crimson Tide dropped the first game to the Bulldogs, 5-3, but bounced back to win the second game, 9-3. Bama improved to 30-5, 7-4 SEC and Georgia fell to 31-6, 5-3 SEC.
In the series opener, it was scoreless until the fourth inning when the Bulldogs strung together a trio of hits to take a 3-0 lead. Ally Shipman put Bama on the scoreboard in the bottom half of the inning when she hit a solo home run to make it 3-1. Georgia’ Sydney Kuma extended its lead with a two-run home run in the sixth to make it 5-1. The Tide would add two more runs thanks to Megan Bloodworth’ two-run double. It wouldn’t be enough as Alabama lost, Montana Fouts (15-2) was given the loss but struck out 10 batters to make it her ninth game this season with double-digits strikeouts.
The second game started out like the first, with Georgia scoring first to take the lead due to a solo home run and sac fly RBI. The Crimson Tide would go on to tie the game and in the sixth inning, with the score tied 3-3, Alabama would score six runs to give itself a nice cushion. Lexi Kilfoyl earned the win on the mound to improve her record to 6-2.
The series rubber match is scheduled for Monday at 6 p.m. on SEC Network.
