Alabama softball dominating start of season

Alabama softball capped off an impressive weekend with a 9-1 victory over Middle Tennessee in the Easton Bama Bash. The Crimson Tide (9-0) ended the weekend 5-0, and outscored its opponents 30-3. Alabama softball is ranked No.2, behind defending National Champions the Oklahoma Sooners.
After Sunday’s win, the Tide earned its fifth run rule and sixth game scoring eight or more runs. Bama was led on offense by Tennessee transfer Ally Shipman. Shipman tallied six hits, including two home-runs and nine RBI’s over the weekend. On the mound, it was another dominating performance from senior Montana Fouts. Fouts only allowed one run and six hits, but the All-American tallied an outstanding 24 strikeouts.
Fouts, Shipman and Lexi Kilfoyl were named to the Easton Bama Bash All-Tournament Team. Shipman was awarded as the most valuable player of the tournament.
The Crimson Tide will look to stay undefeated as they hit the road to take on the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns. The game is scheduled for Feb. 24 at 6 p.m.
