ALABAMA READING INSTITUTE HOSTS WORKSHOP TO IMPROVE READING INSTRUCTION IN CLASSROOMS
The Alabama Reading Institute and several teachers throughout Tuscaloosa are concluding their two-week workshop at Matthews Elementary School.
The focus has been on six different components of reading that have to do with comprehension, fluency and writing.
Teachers that volunteered their time for these two weeks to improve reading instruction will able to turn around and apply what they learned in the upcoming school year.
The Alabama Reading Institute plans to continue these modules learned at workshop throughout the coming school year.
“We want our students reading during the summer,” said Jennifer Manning, a specialist at the Alabama Reading Institute. “We want our students writing during the summer and this is an opportunity for them to gain just a taste of what next year will be for them.”
