Alabama loses Friday night starter to rival SEC school

Alabama’s Friday night starter from last season, Luke Holman, entered the transfer portal in June. Kendall Rogers with D1 Baseball announced Holman plans to transfer to LSU.
The right-handed pitcher garnered a lot of attention following his successful season with the Crimson Tide. He struck out 87 batters and allowed only 31 walks in 81 innings of work and 15 starts. The Pennsylvania recorded a team-low 3.67 earned run average which ranked ninth in the SEC.
Holman earned an invite to the 2023 USA Baseball Collegiate National Training Camp where he eventually made the USA National team.
Holman isn’t the first Alabama player to transfer to LSU. Former Crimson Tide pitcher Kade Woods also transferred to LSU, an announcement made earlier this summer. The Tigers had the top two draft picks in this year’s MLB Draft and just won the 2023 Men’s College World Series. Head Coach Jay Johnson looks to be restocking his team for next season and Holman and Woods are sure to be excellent players for him.
