Alabama basketball will travel to Oxford, Mississippi, this Wednesday to take on the Ole Miss Rebels. The Crimson Tide looks to end a two-game losing streak, while the Rebels look to bounce back from its road loss in overtime to Florida.
Bama’s record sits at 14-9, 4-6 SEC, which leaves them at ninth in the SEC. Ole Miss is currently 12-11, 3-7 SEC, which has them at 13th in the conference. Both teams could desperately use the conference win to ignite a spark in their team as the SEC tournament is looming. This will be the only meeting between the two programs.
Both teams have had an up-and-down year with impressive wins and embarrassing losses. Ole Miss went into Baton Rouge and defeated No.25 LSU 76-72. The Rebels also suffered a bad loss when the Samford Bulldogs came into town and defeated them 75-73. Alabama on the other hand, has impressive wins against three of last year’s Final Four teams, to go along with bad losses on the road to Georgia and Mississippi State.
The Crimson Tide and Rebels are both trying to find something that has been missing all season: consistency. Alabama ranks No.3 in the SEC in points per game, but that doesn’t tell the whole story as the Crimson Tide rank No.7 in field goal percentage at just 44.1%. The Rebels rank No. 13 in points per game and No. 11 in field goal percentage, shooting 42.7%.
Wednesday’s match-up is set up to be promising as both teams need a win. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on SEC Network.
