Alabama lands Georgia standout Jermaine Burton

While the Crimson Tide men’s basketball team looks to battle it out with the Georgia Bulldogs in Athens tonight on the hardwood, the football team is getting a huge transfer from the Champion Dawgs: four-star wideout Jermaine Burton.
Burton was one of the starting wide receivers for Georgia the majority of the season, bringing in 26 catches with 497 yards and five touchdowns, and led all Georgia receivers in yards this past season.
Bama fans will recall Jameson Williams, a big-time transfer receiver last year who transferred from Ohio State and is set to be the first wide receiver to be selected in the NFL Draft come May.
So Alabama has had great success in the portal as they hope Burton can replicate the performance Williams had this past year. The Crimson Tide’s only returning wideout who had more than 20 catches is Traeshon Holden.
Jermaine Burton has caught some slack on social media from Georgia Alumnist and NFL wide receiver Mecole Hardman “How you go to the team we just beat? and leave a team you won the natty with?”
While Hardman and many other Georgia fans question why Burton would decide to leave the Dawgs, and really it makes perfect sense Burton saw an opportunity to increase his draft stock. Especially after Georgia Quarter Back Stetson Bennett announced he would be returning to Athens for another year.
Who wouldn’t wanna have an opportunity to be the number one wide receiver for the reigning Heisman trophy Bryce Young. Granted Young and Alabama’s offense fits more opportunities for receivers rather than Georgia’s run-heavy offense that’s not as friendly to the receiver position.
With the mass production from Bama receivers along with the opportunity to catch passes from the Heisman Trophy winner, it’s a no-brainer why Burton jumped on the chance.
