ALABAMA GYMNASTICS PREPARE FOR POWER OF PINK MEET
Alabama gymnastics return to Coleman Coliseum for the Power of Pink meet after back-to-back road meets on Friday night. The Crimson Tide’s match-up with No. 2 Florida marks the 15th annual Power of Pink meet.
The Power of Pink raises awareness in the fight against breast cancer, and is an effort the entire university takes part in.
Alabama’s head coach Dana Duckworth understands this match is much more than gymnastics.
“There’s always a moment during the meet when Tony Giles will say ‘anyone that has been affected by cancer, please stand up,” Duckworth said. “And you take a second, and you step back, and you look at so many people and you realize ‘what if our gymnastics meet is the hope, you know, for something better.’ It is just motivation to work a little harder and try a little harder at whatever it is they are battling right now, and it’s worth it. It’s worth it on every level.”
The Power of Pink meet is slated to start at 7:30 p.m.
