The University of Alabama gymnastics team will be one of nine teams heading to Ann Arbor, Michigan, for the regional round of the NCAA Championship.

The No. 10-ranked Alabama team will compete against Michigan, Penn State and Ohio State at 2 p.m. on April 5.

“This is a new format, but at the same time we approach it the same way mentally,” Maddie Desch, a junior on the gymnastics team, said. “I just think that we’re really excited and really confident coming off a really good SEC performance.”

The Crimson Tide will start round two on the balance beam and will proceed to the floor exercise and vault before finishing the night on the uneven bars.

“I love when I get to the end of a meet and I have no idea what the score is,” Alabama Gymnastics head coach Dana Duckworth said. “I feel like I’ve done my job cause I’m asking our ladies to focus on their performance and the details and what are your actions today and outcomes.”
