Alabama football flips Mississippi State commit Cade Carruth

Hewitt-Trussville class of 2022 quarterback Cade Carruth announced via Twitter that he is flipping his commitment from Mississippi State to join Alabama as a preferred walk-on.

Carruth comes to Tuscaloosa as a legacy, his uncle Paul Carruth played running back for the Crimson Tide from 1981-84 under head coach Paul W. Bear Bryant.

Carruth led the Huskies to the second round of the AHSAA playoffs where they were defeated by the Hoover Buccaneers 24-23. He is 6-foot-1, 195 pounds and passed for 1,891 yards and 16 touchdowns with three interceptions in his senior season with the Huskies. He also rushed for 103 yards and five touchdowns.

Alabama is building up its quarterback room after the departure of Paul Tyson, Stone Hollenbach and Braxton Barker. The quarterback room now features Bryce Young, Jalen Milroe, Ty Simpson, Blake Jarrett and now Carruth.
