ALABAMA FANS CONFIDENT GOING INTO NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

Bama Fans

While many University of Alabama fans and students took the trip to San Jose, California, for tonight’s National Championship Game, many more hung back on campus ahead of the spring semester’s start Wednesday.

But even though they’re not out West, Crimson Tide fans are making the most of game day.

Hundreds lined up as early as 11 a.m. outside Tuscaloosa’s bar, staking out their perfect spots. Rounder’s Bar owner Grant McCabe said he’s astounded so many Bama fans are coming out so early.

“It’s exciting,” McCabe said. “Game days are a big part of the Strip down here. A lot of the away games, we don’t see near the crowd as we do for home games, so it’s kind of like another home game event for us on the Strip.”

The National Championship Game between Alabama and Clemson kicks off tonight on ESPN at 7 p.m.

Should the Tide find themselves winning their 18th National Championship, several stores around town will be throwing open their doors for fans eager to pick up the latest merchandise.

Dicks Sporting Goods, behind Krispy Kreme on McFarland Boulevard; Academy Sports on Skyland Boulevard, near the Cobb Hollywood 16 movie theater; and Bama Express on University Boulevard on the Strip will all be open and selling items commemorating the win.
