Alabama deputy athletic director charged with domestic violence

A University of Alabama deputy athletic director is facing charges stemming from what police are calling a domestic violence incident early Sunday.
According to the Tuscaloosa Police Department, officers were called to a home on a report of domestic violence.
As a result of the investigation, 45-year-old Matthew Travis Self was charged with third-degree domestic violence, was taken to the Tuscaloosa County Jail and released after a 24-hour domestic violence hold on a $300 bond.
According to the UA Staff Directory, Self has worked at UA since 2008 and is the athletics department’s deputy director of athletics, compliance and support services.
