The University of Alabama’s Culverhouse College of Business celebrated the grand opening of its state-of-the-art building complex Thursday afternoon.

Hewson Hall, named after alumni Marilyn and James Hewson, is a $60 million building consisting of high-tech classrooms and collaboration rooms to further connect Culverhouse faculty, staff and students.

The Hewsons donated $15 million for the facility.

Culverhouse Dean Kay Palan said the design process was extensive.

“A lot of it was work that we did ahead of time, really thinking through what kinds of classrooms do we need in today’s world, the technology, a lot of the collaboration rooms, those kinds of things were very important to how we continue to educate students in today’s world,” said Palan.

Hewson Hall opened for classes at the start of the fall semester.
