The Alabama State Council on the Arts handed out more than 200 grants worth nearly $3.7 million at its most recent quarterly meeting.

That money includes $814,100 in federal relief funds for 63 Alabama art organizations as part of the Alabama Arts Recovery Program.

“Throughout the pandemic, the Council has supported Alabama’s arts and culture sector through our grants. As arts organizations across the state safely reopen and return to in-person operations, we continue supporting recovery through the Alabama Arts Recovery Program,” said Council Executive Director Elliot Knight in a statement. “These federal funds will provide support for general operating costs and personnel, allowing organizations to continue providing artistic opportunities and creative experiences to our citizens and communities.”
