The University of Alabama announced its dates and times for Spring 2021 commencement. There will be nine ceremonies on the weekend of April 30-May 2, all featuring safety protocols and social distancing. With over 5,000 graduates expected in attendance, UA is limiting each participant to four guests. Ceremonies, as always, will be at Coleman Coliseum located on campus.

Commencement begins Friday, April 30 with the College of Communications and Information Sciences at 3:30 p.m. CT. Then, after a brief intermission, the College of Engineering hosts its ceremony at 7:00 p.m. that evening.

There are four ceremonies scheduled for Saturday, May 1, though the College of Arts and Sciences hosts two of its own, including an 8:30 a.m. and noon commencement. Graduates of the school are divided by name, meaning those with last names A-K will attend the morning commencement, then those with last names of L-Z will attend the noon session.

The College of Education and Capstone College of Nursing also graduate on that Saturday. Both schools are combined for the 3:30 p.m. commencement. Then at 7:00 p.m. the Colleges of Human Environmental Sciences and Community Health Sciences are scheduled to walk.

Sunday, May 2 has three sessions, all of which for graduates of the Culverhouse College of Business. Like the previous day, participants are grouped by the last name and given a specific time. Last names A-G will attend the 8:30 a.m. ceremony, then last names H-O will attend the noon ceremony. Lastly, those with last names P-Z will participate in the 3:30 p.m. finale.

UA will use the same commencement model of previous graduations during the COVID-19 pandemic. Masks are required for all in attendance and guests are encouraged to bring their own. Hand sanitizing stations will be available in Coleman Coliseum, and the venue will be cleaned in between each ceremony. Digital tickets are available and will be distributed prior to commencement weekend.
